AIDS-30 Years later: Prevention!!!
Since the first report of HIV-1 30 years ago (June 5, 1981) by CDC, 30 MILLIONS DIED OF AIDS. Now we have effective drugs or drug combinations that target the life cycle of the virus. However, none of the drugs can cure the disease. Therefore, once one has the virus, he or she will have it for the life time. The best approach is prevention, prevention, and prevention. Before an effective preventive vaccine is available (any hope in 10 years?), the simplest and most effective way is to use the rubber thing (condoms), especially for youth. Here is a song lyric about AIDS prevention:
A Rubber Thing by Jubsal
15, 16, 18
Golden time to learn
Girls are singing
Boys are playing
What a wonderful life
16, 17, 18
Miserable time to regret
Girls are crying
Boys are yelling
Forgot a rubber thing
HIV, AIDS, AIDS
A lifelong disease
Girls, prevention!
Boys, prevention!
Don’t forget the rubber thing!!!
